Sending Samples
IDL
provides its service
for clients
from both within Australia and abroad. We are always interested in new
areas of exploration.
When sending samples
from
overseas or interstate, please ensure that you are familiar with
Australian state and federal quarantine laws as penalties may apply for
non-compliance. Make sure you contact us to let us know that you are
sending samples.
To keep costs down, maintain quality and to avoid confusion, we advise
that
you:
- Keep a record
of your consignment numbers to enable tracking
- Keep a sample list that is fully reflective
of the samples you have sent
- Ensure that bags, boxes and vials are sealed
properly and wrapped appropriately
- If possible, use calico bags to store the
sample material (especially
for
large
samples
that
require heat treatment) with
a
polyweave
bag
on
the
outside for protection
- Avoid using sandwich bags,
garbage bags, low quality boxes and common household containers for
samples
- Cover
pallets with cardboard or a mat before stacking neatly
- Ensure that
samples are clearly marked and identifiable (best to write three times
just in case)
- Keep in
mind that long
distance
road transit involves many movements and sometimes periods of exposure
to
wind, rain sun and
other elements

storage
